  Sunday, April 22, 2012 [Asbury Park, NJ]

At 2 PM on Sunday afternoon, April 22, 2012, we'll be giving a special multimedia presentation, "R&B, Doo Wop and Soul Vocal Groups of Asbury Park's West Side".  Sponsored by the Asbury Park Historical Society, this will be the first time we've given this presentation and we'll be covering the untold stories of Asbury Park's West Side and surrounding areas.  We'll talk about the Vibranaires, Vibes, Mar-Keys, Lenny Welch, V-Eights, Criterions, Darchaes, Uniques, Nicky Addeo, the Shondelles, Valtairs, Broadways and many more.  We expect many special guests in the audience.  The location will at a community room in the Atonement Lutheran Church at First & Heck Avenues in Asbury Park.  Admission will be $10, $5 for Asbury Park Historical Society members.  Tickets will be available soon through the Asbury Park Historical Society's website.  Mark your calendars and check back here for more details soon. 
 

[New!]Wednesday, May 9, 2012 [Garwood, NJ]

On Wednesday, May 9, 2012, we return to the Garwood (NJ) Public Library, 411 3rd Avenue, Garwood NJ to give our Classic Urban Harmony multimedia presentation, "Doo Wop Groups of New Jersey - Part 2".  We always have a great time at Garwood Library and can't wait to get back there.  The event will be FREE but sign up is required.  We'll let you know when and how you can register as we get closer to May.
 

[New!]Wednesday, May 23, 2012 [Garwood, NJ]

On Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 7 PM, Classic Urban Harmony has helped facilitate a FREE screening of the documentary, "A Lessen In A Capella" at the Garwood (NJ) Public Library, 411 3rd Avenue, Garwood NJ.  The film, produced by filmmaker and documentarian Keith Lewis and assisted by James Power tells the history and significance of acappella music, with acappella performances by Jerry Lawson & Talk of the Town, Choice, A Perfect Blend, Shades of Soul, TruSol and many other artists.  This fabulous educational and entertaining documentary also contains commentary by our own Charlie Horner.

Documentary producer Keith Lewis and/or James Power will be there to explain how and why the documentary was made.  The event will be FREE but sign up is required.  We'll let you know when and how you can register as we get closer to May.

Working with the Franklin Township Cultural Arts Committee, we've tentatively scheduled a FREE outdoor acappella concert for the afternoon of Sunday July 29 with the doo wop group Re-MemberThen.  It will take place in Franklin Township/Somerset NJ but the time and location has not yet been determined.  Check back later on this website and we'll let you know.

Next TNT North Jersey R&B and Doo Wop Party to feature the Chords

The next TNT North Jersey Rhythm & Blues and Doo Wop Party at the PL Lounge at 51 Louis Avenue, South Hackensack, NJ, will be on February 3, 2012 starting at 8 PM.  Enjoy the company of fellow 1950's R&B and doo wop group harmony enthusiasts while listening to a rotating list of knowledgeable dj's spinning great rare records.  The February 3 party will be in tribute to Ronnie I and is also expected to have the Chords singing some live acappella.  For info contact Tom Harford at mazharford@optonline.net

Luther Barnes & Sunset Jubilaires, Maggie Ingram & Ingrammettes, Frankie Davis & Mighty Stars, Van Jones & King David's Harp, Elder Ronnie Harper & Harmonizing Echoes, Word Singers, Brothers In Christ, Min. Paul Boone & TempleAires, Gospel Psalmist LaNita Wiggins.

Another fabulous program assembled by Rev. Brenda Boone & the Higher Praise Community Choir, entitled "A Praise In The Music And A Praise In The Song".  Takes place on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 4 PM at the Mount Sinai Church, 900 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA (located at the corner of Portsmouth Blvd. & Chestnut Street, one block from Effingham Street.

Featuring the following Gospel artists: Rev.
