Classic
Urban Harmony Doo Wop Presentation at Franklin Township Public Library a
Huge Success
Classic Urban Harmony's multimedia presentation, “The
Evolution of Doo Wop Music” on Wednesday evening, February 18, 2009,
at the Franklin Township Public Library, was a huge success.
For the first time our presentation was
completely opened to the public and it drew a near capacity crowd on a cold
and rainy night.
Members
of the audience who arrived early got to view our doo wop music
memorabilia display as well as our books of original vocal group
sheet music and lobby cards.

In
honor of the 60th Anniversary of the vinyl 45 RPM record, we also
displayed RCA Victor's first 45's; each color-coded in 1949 for the
type of music in its grooves. R&B music was pressed in
florescent orange vinyl; Country & Western in green vinyl;
Children's records in yellow vinyl; new Pop records in black vinyl;
Classical Music in red vinyl; International records in light blue
vinyl; and older reissued Pop records in dark blue vinyl.

Our
multimedia presentation began with the story of the Mills Brothers
and Ink Spots and relayed tales about the Ravens, Orioles, Dominoes,
Crows, Valentines, Teenagers, Chantels and scores of other vocal
groups. The talk was interspersed with short music clips.

Following the presentation we took questions from the audience.
We are very pleased with the positive feedback we received from
those in attendance. You can read some of the comments on our
Response to Our Presentations Page.
