Our Doo Wop Presentation at
the Meadows Foundation's historic Hageman farm on June 13 was another great
success! Moved from the restored barn to the house at the last minute due
to permit issues, a sold-out audience crowded the double room with some people
watching from the hallway. Due to the large number of knowledgeable music
enthusiasts in the audience, we gave the presentation more of a record
collectors' spin. Celebrities in the audience included Sammy Campbell and
Ron Taylor of the Del Larks, Bobby Thomas of the Vibranaires and Orioles, Alan
David Stein of local radio station WCTC-AM and Carl Tandredi of GoldRadio's
"Work With Me Annie" program. The Meadows Foundation was so pleased with
the program we've been invited to give a presentation on "19th Century African-American
Spirituals and the Jubilee Singers" next February 18.
