On our recent Mediterranean cruise we were pleasantly
surprised to encounter a nice acappella group as part of the on board
entertainment. We were on the Solstice but we understand Celebrity
employs other acappella quartets on ships of similar class. What a
bonus for us. We got to hear Soul'D Out on our first night at sea as
part of the introductory show in the Solstice Theater.
Soul'D Out is a young quartet that sings a wide variety of
musical genre in tight acappella harmony. Their set included
everything from a Jersey Boys' Four Seasons medley to songs by the Beach
Boys, Temptations, Everly Brothers, Credence Clearwater Revival and Van
Morrison.
Over the course of the twelve-day cruise we saw the group
perform several more times around the ship. Michael Bernard of the
group told us the quartet started singing in college in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Three members of the group are from Nebraska, the fourth member coming from
Rochester, NY. The group has only been singing together for about four
months. We must say we were impressed to see a young group with such
tight harmony and professional stage presence.
We applaud Celebrity for using acappella groups on some of
their ships and hope other cruise lines will follow suit. If any
visitors to this website have encountered other acappella groups on cruises,
please email us and let us know.
Here are some photos we took of Soul'D Out and two of
several YouTubes that they've posted. They promise us they'll be
posting more YouTube videos in the near future. Permission to use
Soul'D Out's YouTube videos on our website was given to us by the group.

For an example of how Soul'D Out sounds, here are a couple of Youtube clips of them doing
"Barbara Ann" and the Four Season's "Oh What A Night" Both

enjoy them.
