Urban Harmony's
"Doo Wop Groups of New Jersey - Part 1"
Garwood
(NJ) Public Library, September 14, 2011
Pam & Charlie Horner returned to the Garwood NJ Public Library to
present "Doo Wop Groups From New Jersey -
Part 1", on Wednesday evening September 14, 2011 and what a great time we
had!
We talked about groups from Asbury Park, Plainfield, Newark, Jersey City and
more. When we covered the Vibranaires, Vibes and V-Eights, group member
Bobby Thomas was there to confirm all that we told and he greeted an
enthusiastic audience.
Angelo Pompeo, who grew up in Jersey City with the Duprees added some additional
info about the Duprees. WMTR Radio personality, Alan David Stein was on
hand to greet some of his listeners. We handed out our updated printed program listing more than 200
New Jersey vocal groups and gave out several CD's to some very knowledgeable
people in the audience who were the first to identify our mystery artists.
Most important, those in attendence gave us their ideas for future
presentations. We're looking forward to returning to Garwood with NJ
Groups Part 2 plus some more interesting talks.
