Renovations on Classic Urban Harmony Library
Completed
We are proud to announce that in June 2010, the renovations
of the book and periodical library of our Classic
Urban Harmony Archives were completed. New built-in bookcases, designed,
built and installed by Blackpoint Woodworking (Middletown, NJ,
www.blackpointwoodworking.com) modernize and expand our library
and research capabilities. Keeping up with the growing number of
publications about our music is a daunting challenge. In 2007, we donated over 250
books on Jazz and Black History and numerous music trade journals to the
Harlem Jazz Museum because we simply ran out of space. While we kept all
of our books and periodicals on R&B, Doo Wop, Gospel and Pop music, our
collection kept expanding. Our new library finally allows us a quiet
study hall with a world of information about group harmony at our
fingertips. Here are some photos following the renovation process.

After removing all of our books and
periodicals, the old bookcases were removed,
the carpets taken back and new bookcases brought in.

Work on installing the new bookcases
begins.
