Sheps
Acappella Concert at Franklin Township Public Library
Somerset, NJ - March 9, 2010
After a postponement and rescheduling due to a snow storm,
the long awaited doo wop acappella concert by the vocal group, the Sheps
finally took place on Wednesday evening, March 9, 2010. For those who
crowded into the Franklin Township Public Library, it was well worth the wait!
The Sheps did a fabulous job, singing two sets and even breaking down "Gee"
into individual parts and then building it up voice by voice to show how
acappella arrangements are put together.
Charlie & Pam of Classic Urban Harmony helped arrange and
publicize the concert and Charlie introduced the Sheps. The group sang a
nice mix of doo wop standards and some more obscure songs for the record
collectors in the audience. The Sheps opened up with their own song, "We
Like to Sing Acappella," and then launched into "Come Back My Love" (Wrens),
"Call On Me" (Mellomoods), "I Only Have Eyes For You" (Flamingos), "Drop Down"
(Strangers), "I Know" (Jubilaires), "The Wind" (Diablos), "Tell Me Why" (Five
Chances), "Crying In The Chapel" (Orioles) and "Gee" (Crows).
After a short break where the Sheps mingled with audience
members they came back to sing and the second set was just as good if not
better than the first! One of the many highlights of the concert
was when the Sheps' opened the second set with a request for the Five Chances' "All I Want."
It was quickly followed by songs like "What Did She Use" (Spinners), "My
Prayer" (Platters) and "These Foolish Things" (Five Keys).
We've received so many complimentary phone calls and emails
about the Sheps' performance.
